The Weary Band News 27/02/07: The Weary Band have two new gigs in Bristol. In the first we find ourselves as the filling in an Emily Breeze and Rasha Shaheen sandwich - this is at 'The Louisiana' on Thursday March 8th. [poster] Then on Friday 16th March, we're playing up 'The Junction' in Stokes Croft. 18/01/07: Tim is going up to Liverpool tomorrow to do his vocalisations, so the recording should be finished soon. In the meantime, The Weary Band are playing a gig with The Liftmen at The Croft (Bristol) on Saturday 27th January. Also, it has been decided (for now at least) that Valley Forge will be dropped as a name, and we'll gig as The Weary Band from now on. 12/12/06: Valley Forge/The Weary Band will return to Liverpool soon to finish off the songs they recorded for an EP/Album release in 2007. They have been working on the following songs - Some Other Time, Tupperware, Like Children In A Foreign Family, Sunshine & Gold, The Exploding Boy, Scratch Me Up A Cigarette, Sweet & Low Days, She Lives On Serenity Mountain. 16/10/06: Valley Forge are playing at the fantastic Gimme-Shelter night above The Hatchet (Bristol) on Friday 24th November, and the following day at Mr Wolfs Noodle Bar (Bristol). They also start recording some songs at Liverpools' Ranch Studios at the end of this month. 10/07/06: THE LOVELY YELLOW CAR For a year now, Tim and Phil have been working on Tims' 'Lovely Yellow Car' project, which is a psychedelic story about a journey through magical lands; encompassing fiddle playing squids, and towns of quietude, partying, and a town where every day is Christmas Eve. Five of Tims' songs (all among his best ever work) will soundtrack the book, which will be illustrated by Bjorn Lie. Although the songs are practically finished (and sounding great), the book is unlikely to be around for a while...but it's gonna be worth waiting for. 09/07/06: Things are a bit quiet on the gig front at the moment, but that is because Valley Forge/The Weary Band are busy rehearsing songs to record in a studio in Liverpool, and it will be the first time they have had the luxury of a producer/engineer, and enough space to stretch their skinny musical legs. Of course, any information about this will be posted on this site. The Weary Band News 16/03/06
A 7-track CD of songs is available now here. The songs are salvaged from the sadly aborted joint ValleyForge/The Weary Band release from last year. The CD features full (and rather excellent) artwork by Bristol-based artist Bjorn Lie.
