| Welcome to the website for the new Bristol-based independent record company 'Leafkicker Records'. Though it is currently only a small yard with a few stray animals, hopefully in time it will grow and prosper into a farmyard of music (cross-breeding encouraged) ................................................................................................................. 21/06/07: It looks like The Weary Band will finish their album sometime in August, they have also been working on some new songs - 'I hope you're never so old' and 'Your secret's safe with me'. These may end up on the album, but will also shortly be available to hear on their myspace page. (www.myspace.com/thewearyband) They will also be using the summer months to work on a whole bunch of new songs, and some forgotten old ones, so expect a very different set when they return to playing live sometime in September. .................................................................................................................. 17/04/07: The Weary Band have three more gigs in Bristol. Although Alex is unavailable for the first two, we are welcoming back Bjorn Lie, our legendary deputy sticksman! This enables Phil to pretend to play keyboards. Andy will also be missing from the second gig - but we'll be previewing a load of new songs to compensate for our personnel losses. The first gig is with Rachel Dadd and Rozi Plain at Mr Wolfs Noodle Bar on April 25th, then two days later we're returning to play at the Gimme Shelter club night above the Hatchet. Finally, we're playing an acoustic set at Joe Publics on 23rd May - though i'll post more info on that nearer the time. ................................................................................................................. 27/02/07: The Weary Band have two new gigs in Bristol. In the first we find ourselves as the filling in an Emily Breeze and Rasha Shaheen sandwich - this is at 'The Louisiana' on Thursday March 8th. [poster] Then on Friday 16th March, we're playing up 'The Junction' in Stokes Croft. .................................................................................................................. 18/01/07: Tim is going up to Liverpool tomorrow to do his vocalisations, so the recording should be finished soon. In the meantime, The Weary Band are playing a gig with The Liftmen at The Croft (Bristol) on Saturday 27th January. Also, Lord Edward Dark is working on some artwork so that anyone who wants to buy his stuff should soon be able to order it from the store. .................................................................................................................. 12/12/06: Valley Forge/The Weary Band will return to Liverpool soon to finish off the songs they recorded for an EP/Album release in 2007. They have been working on the following songs - Some Other Time, Tupperware, Like Children In A Foreign Family, Sunshine & Gold, The Exploding Boy, Scratch Me Up A Cigarette, Sweet & Low Days, She Lives On Serenity Mountain. They have also missed the boat a bit, but have jumped aboard the myspace vessel at www.myspace.com/thewearyband ...Also, Lord Edward Dark has just finished his fourth LP and has added some snippets from a few of the songs on his page. ................................................................................................................. 16/10/06: The Weary Band are about to start recording an album in Liverpools' Ranch Studios (The Coral, The Kooks), plus they will be doing a few gigs in November. See the Weary Band page for more details. ................................................................................................................. 02/04/06: There is a short on-line review of a Weary Band gig at the Folk House in December at this address here: http://www.decodemedia.com/tiki-index.php?page=The+Weary+Band For older reviews of The Weary Band / Valley Forge check this page here. ................................................................................................................. 16/03/06: THE WEARY BAND CD is available for sale here - after a long gestation period, Leafkicker Records is finally born unto the world!
